Real Spain - Converted in 2007, Casa Era is an old Cortijo with original features combined with modern fittings & set in a small hamlet, 2 km from Periana & only 28 km from the coast
This 2-storey house is full of character and yet has been fitted with many modern features. On the ground floor is a large living room, a salon with an archway leading into a separate dining room, a kitchen and utility room. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and a shower room. The master bedroom is huge and has an en-suite, 4-piece shower room.
The Cortijo has three very old original fireplaces and a cobbled track leading from the front door through the salon to the kitchen which has been retained now as a feature but is a reminder that the property was once used to house animals when it was a working farm. There are also two original feeding troughs in the large utility room.
Access to the property is directly from the old threshing area that is now the square and parking area for the hamlet of Moya. There is a private courtyard that provides shade on hot summer days, folding doors from the living room open out onto a second terrace with a kidney-shaped swimming pool and through the back door in the kitchen is a further terrace. This terrace has an old olive tree growing out of a rock and an original bread oven making it an excellent place to dine and entertain guests.
Casa Era is in a beautiful location surrounded by olive and orange groves and there is a honey farm close by. It is 2 km from the town of Periana with all its amenities, only a half an hour’s drive from the coast and about an hour from the airports of Malaga and Granada.
