A new international airport is currently being developed which will be known as Murcia Corvera Airport and it is hoped that this will open in summer 2013.   

Plans are currently at an advanced stage by Paramount Pictures to develop Murcia Theme Park.  In March 2012, 1 million square metres of land was purchased for this project north-west of Cartagena at a cost of €15 million and the company expects to start construction of the theme park in May.   The park is scheduled to open by Easter 2015.    

The theme park will create over 22,000 jobs in the region and is expected to attract 2.7 million visitors in its first year. The theme park location is approx 30 minutes from Mar Menor and 20 Km from San Javier airport.   Up to 15000 rooms will be needed to cater for the holiday makers. Not only will Paramount Pictures build a theme park but they will also centralize all European film production at the park.   

You can combine your visit to the theme park with a holiday on the beach with miles of blue star beaches on the Mar Menor at Los Alcazares. Possibly the best in the area and only 25 minutes away from the Paramount Park.
